Modelled writing
The aim of
modelled writing is to use the “think aloud strategy” to model what goes on in the
head of the writer. Not only does this give the teacher opportunities to
explicitly talk about elements of the writing process, but it also allows
students to observe the way a writer crafts and records a text.
Today I
shared a little about my weekend as I recounted some things I did. We wondered
how many words I had written. Emerson shared her ideas of what words were. Some
children shared the words they knew in my story while others shared some
letters they were familiar with.
We will find out more about the differences between letters, words and sentences as we grow as writers this year.
You might have noticed I crossed out the word for, instead of erasing ... I love mistakes!
